John Henry Budd, M.D. was born in Canada on December 6, 1908. A lifelong jazz enthusiast, music has always been his avocation. During his high school years he was employed playing the piano for a year in movie theaters, prior to the "talkies." He has enjoyed a distinguished medical career, and is a former president of the AMA. Dr. Budd has enjoyed many friendships with jazz musicians throughout the years, and continues to attend jazz parties across the country.
The Fillius Jazz Archive has made a reasonable effort to secure permission from the interviewees to make these materials available to the public. Use of these materials by other parties is subject to the fair use doctrine in United States copyright law (Title 17, Chapter 1, para. 107) which allows use for commentary, criticism, news reporting, research, teaching or scholarship without requiring permission from the rights holder.
