About this collection

A collection of 647 manuscripts related to Samuel Kirkland (1741-1808), missionary and founder of Hamilton-Oneida Academy which became Hamilton College soon after Kirkland's death. About one hundred of the manuscripts have been fully transcribed. A few of the manuscripts are written in a dialect of the Iroquois language.
