Pianist Ralph Sutton was born in 1922, in Hamburg, Missouri. He spent much of his early career with Jack Teagarden, becoming a fixture at Eddie Condon's in New York. His friendship with Fats Waller influenced his own piano style and his recreations of stride and ragtime are well respected. Ralph has recorded frequently for the Riverside, Verve and Commodore labels, and is comfortable in both the solo piano and combo settings. Ralph can be heard at numerous jazz parties and festivals both here and abroad.
