Hamilton College memorabilia from 1897: Graduation gown (Black cotton, made by Cotrell and Leonard, Albany, NY); Mortarboard; Stole; tie, or cape piece (part of graduation ensemble); Gym suit with white trim; Man's gray flannel gym suit (white cotton ribbon trim, half sleeves, button down front with some of buttons missing, short cord at waist, to about knees) worn at Hamilton College by Horace H. Bogue.


Biography

Horace H. Bogue was born 20 October 1874 in Avon, NY and died 16 March 1966 in Seattle, WA. He attended Hamilton College (A.B., 1897 and A.M. in course, 1900). Until 1918 he was with a department Store in Alliance, NE, from 1918 until the Depression he was in the hardware business in Seattle. During the Depression Bogue owned and operated a ranch in eastern Washington. He returned to Seattle and operated a dairy equipment business until his retirement in 1949. After his retirement he traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, South America, Australia, and New Zealand
